Andrew Mayock


Appointed in March 2025, Andrew Mayock serves as É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s inaugural Vice Chancellor for Sustainability, a role created to unify and elevate the university’s sustainability efforts across academics, operations and community engagement.

As a nationally recognized leader in climate policy and environmental stewardship, Mayock brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as the Chief Sustainability Officer for the United States, where he led the federal government’s sustainability initiatives. His leadership focused on decarbonizing federal operations, advancing clean energy adoption and fostering resilient supply chains through low-carbon procurement strategies.

At É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, Mayock is charged with:

  • Establishing a university-wide sustainability leadership framework
  • Fostering partnerships with faculty, staff students and external stakeholders
  • Positioning É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ as a national and global leader in sustainability
  • Supporting local communities in making Colorado the most sustainable state in the U.S.
  • Securing funding for priority sustainability initiatives through public and private sources

Mayock’s appointment reflects É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s strategic focus on achieving global leadership in sustainability impact.

É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ is home to over 400 sustainability-related courses and numerous research institutes with global impact. Under Mayock’s leadership, the university aims to further integrate sustainability into its curriculum, operations and research using the campus as a living-learning laboratory for climate solutions.

I am honored to join the É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, where this new role reflects the university’s steadfast commitment to creating a sustainable future for our students, faculty, staff and community. As we continue to navigate the pressing challenges of climate change and environmental stewardship, I am excited to collaborate with this talented community to foster innovative solutions, inspire bold action and continue to lead the way in sustainability practices—locally and globally.
