Faculty/Staff Commuting Options for Move-in 2025

The university thanks you in advance for supporting students and their familiesÌýduring Move-in Sunday, August 17Ìýthrough Tuesday, August 19.

Each year, the campus works to eliminate Move-in traffic impacts by limiting vehicles driving on campus. With less traffic entering and exiting campus, the plan has been successful. Move-inÌýwill be based on students’ residence hall locations.

Permit holders, commuters and those using meter/pay station parking should plan for closures/restrictedÌýaccess to main campus parking lots Sunday, August 17 through Tuesday, August 19.ÌýMake your plans now to use alternate transportation to get to campus or take advantage ofÌýalternate work arrangements.ÌýPlease Note: There will be significant Parking Closures for Thursday-Sunday August 21-24Ìýfor Fall Welcome Events.Ìý

  • Parking Services will issue permit holder email notificationsÌýidentifying parking restrictions/closuresÌýin their parking lots.
  • Regent Drive and Colorado AvenueÌý(east of the Colorado Avenue/Folsom StreetÌýintersection)Ìýwill be restricted to vehicles displaying "Move-in" permits from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day Sunday, August 17 through Tuesday, August 19.
  • East Campus parking lots (Marine Street and Discovery Drive) will not experience closures during these times.

If you normally drive to work or if you have meetings scheduled during Move-in dates, parking lot closures will require you to plan ahead. Following are alternative options to consider:

Bus

  • Campus employees can use their university issued EcoPass. To pre-plan your route visitÌýÌýand use theÌýÌýto view available routes. Park free at one of theÌýÌýand ride a bus to/from campus. DownloadÌýTransit to your smart phone so you'll know when your next bus will arrive!

Bike

Telecommuting

  • Investigate how your job responsibilitiesÌýcan be performed from home or on an alternate work schedule throughÌý.

Vacation time

  • Check with your supervisor. If your job doesn’t involve Move-in, and you have vacation time, this may be a great time to take a break from work.

You might even wish to volunteer!

  • Join the tradition of welcoming students and families to É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ by volunteering for Fall Welcome. Opportunities include helping students move in, navigate campus, engage in signature events and more.

How do I receive my Critical Need move-in day permit?

Those approved will receive their permit invitation no later than August 15.

IfÌýapproved, Parking Services will send you a Guest Permit Invitation Link to Claim your permit. The link will allow you to complete your permit with Vehicle information then check out.

Please print this permit. It must be displayed while you are on Campus.
