The Academic Affairs Advisory Committee approved the certificate program in June 2017.

Enrollment into the certificate program is available now.

Suffering and Care in Society (SOCY 4062) and Risk and Resilience in Society (SOCY 4063) is currently being offered every fall semester.  Ethics and Social Issues in U.S. Health and Medicine (SOCY 1022) is currently being offered every spring semester.  Sociology of the Helping Professions (SOCY 2080) and the Internship in Care, Health, and Resilience (SOCY 4932) will be offered in the 2018/2019 academic year.

The core courses do not have any prerequisites with the exception that the internship should be taken during the second semester of their junior year or during the senior year. The internship will allow the students to apply what they have learned in their formal coursework to a practical experience. The required internship is not applicable to the Sociology major or minor.

While experiential education opportunities are strongly encouraged for any student interested in social innovation, credits obtained through that experience will not count towards the elective requirements.

The core and elective courses must be satisfied through courses taken on the É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ campus.
