The Graduate Engineering Annual Research and Recruitment Symposium (GEARRS) is an annual event that provides an overview of current research within the Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering for admitted PhD applicants. Current PhD students present on research in the areas of air quality, bioengineering, design, materials, mechanics, micro/nanoscale, robotics and systems design, and thermo fluid sciences.
Attending GEARRS is an important step in learning about research in the department and connecting with potential research advisors.ÌýProspective students at GEARRS have a plethora of opportunities to meet with faculty and current students. While all admitted PhD students will receive an offer of funding at the time of admission, some students may not secure a research lab or advisor until their first semester in the PhD program.
