UNM Distinguished Professor Joan Bybee gives Capstone CU Linguistics lecture April 19

CU Linguistics is pleased to present a Capstone Lecture by Dr. , a pioneering cognitive-functonal linguist. Prof. Bybee is best known for proposing the theory of  and for her contributions to  and  linguistics. Dr. Bybee was nominated by CU Linguistics graduate students.  Her talk will take place 4-5:30pm Wednesday, April 19th in CASE E422. The talk will be offered in hybrid format, with both a Zoom audience and in-person audience. The title of her talk, based on joint work with Prof. (Oklahoma State), is "Hyperbole and bleaching in semantic change: the case of grab".
