Nikhil Mankekar is a community leader, entrepreneur and artist. Nikhil is Chair of the City of É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Human Relations Commission. He is the first Indian and Sikh-American to be appointed to any city board or commission in É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. Nikhil has been recognized for his leadership on a wide range of issues including homelessness, economic justice, gender equity, diversity, inclusivity and building a safe and welcoming community in É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. Nikhil worked directly with the Mayor and City Council to establish É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ as a Sanctuary City. ÌýHe was also instrumental in establishing Indigenous Peoples Day in É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. Ìý

In 2017, Nikhil was awarded the United Nations Association’s International Human Rights Award for his work. Nikhil also received the 2018 Partner to Women of the Year Award from Business and Professional Women of Colorado. He graduated as valedictorian of his class at the University of Colorado at É«½ä³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, where he received the Chancellor’s Recognition Award for earning all A’s during his college career, and was also named the Outstanding Graduate of the Leeds School of Business.
