International Internships Scholarships and Grants

We have tailored this list of awards that are applicable to many students going on internship programs. Talk to an advisor in our office if you have financial questions or concerns. Note that you must be enrolled in at least 6 credits in the summer term to qualify for Pell Grants, CU Achieve Grants and loans. Most summer internship opportunities through Education Abroad meet this requirement. We also recommend you discuss your plans with the CU Office of Financial Aid so you have a clear picture of grants and loans available to you.Ìý

  • Ìý(allÌýstudents with financial need are guaranteed an award!)
    • Summer Internship Access Scholarship: For students with demonstrated high need and students from an underrepresented background, you will be guaranteed a scholarship up to $4,000. You will be automatically considered when applying for the Buffs Abroad Scholarship. Eligible programs: .
  • Pell GrantÌý(must enroll in at least 6 summer credits to be eligible; amount ranges based on your need)
  • CU Achieve GrantÌý(must enroll in at least 6 summer credits to be eligible; amount ranges based on your need)
  • (up toÌý$5,000 for students who receive a Pell Grant)
  • ($5,000 for undergraduate dependents of active or activated United States military personnel who also receive federal financial aid)
  • IAFS Global GrantÌý(up toÌý$3,000 for International Affairs majors) - apply via Buffs Abroad Scholarship
  • Latin AmericaÌýExplorerÌýScholarship:ÌýChoose an International Internship inÌýLatin America in 2025 and get up to $2,000 off your program fee! Submit aÌýÌýapplication and you’ll automatically get up to $2,000.
  • Max Kade ScholarshipÌýforÌýstudents interning inÌýGermany or Austria. Award is $1,200. Apply via theÌýBuffs Abroad ScholarshipÌýapplication.
  • ÌýApplies onlyÌýfor theÌý program. Provides funding for high-achieving American college students from a low-income background to internÌýin the Netherlands. If awarded, the grantee will receive a monthly stipend of $1,500 to cover cost-of-living expenses, a $1,000 travel stipend, and coverage of all visa costs. Roughly $4,000 for the Global Internship program.
