Explore Programs

Ed Abroad offers over 400 programs for you to choose between, from short-term summer programs to full semester and academic year programs.

Picking one program from all these options can feel overwhelming, so below are some tips on how to use our Program Search and narrow things down.

1. Think about academics

Do you have specific credits you need to earn while abroad to stay on track for graduation? Use the Areas of Study option on our Program Search to see which programs might offer credit for your major or minor.

Our Academics page and Course Approval Search can also help you work out what programs will get you the credit you need.

2. Know your budget

What do you normally pay for tuition here at CU? Does your Ed Abroad program need to be about the same or less than what you spend on CU tuition? Or is your budget flexible?

Our Program Costs page will give you a breakdown of the costs for each of our programs, or you can filter programs by cost within our Program Search.

To give you a way to filter by program costs, you can select $, $$, $$$, or $$$$ within the Estimated Total Costs option in our Program Search to indicate your budget (you should Ctrl + Click to select more than one if your budget spans more than one of these categories).

Semester Programs

  • $ - Comparable to or less than CU in-state costs ($15,000 - $21,000)
  • $$ - Between CU in-state and out-of-state costs ($21,000 - $28,000)
  • $$$ - Comparable to CU out-of-state costs ($28,000 - $34,000)
  • $$$$ - Higher than CU out-of-state costs (rare) ($34,000+)

Summer Programs

  • $ - $6,000 - $8,000
  • $$ - $8,000 - $11,000
  • $$$ - $11,000 - $14,000
  • $$$$ - $14,000+
3. Consider the on-site experience

Once you've narrowed down the credits you need and your budget, then comes the fun part - thinking about the kind of experience you want to have. Here are some of the things that can impact your day-to-day life abroad, and what to consider as you select your program:
